For the past three years, the Chairman and CEO at MAPFRE Middlesea have decided to donate funds towards a good cause as opposed to receiving gifts during the festive season
Each year, a different cause is chosen by the management. In 2018, the employees of MAPFRE Middlesea organised a collection of money amongst themselves which was then donated to The Foodbank in Valletta and Dar Merhba Bik Foundation in Balzan.
Launched by Rev. Kim Hurst from the St Andrew’s Scots Church in 2015, The Foodbank in Old Bakery Street provides emergency food supplies to people dealing with short-term crises. After receiving a referral by care professionals, The Foodbank sends food to families in need to last them for between six to twelve weeks.
On the other hand, Dar Merhba Bik Foundation is a Non-Governmental Organisation which offers shelter for female victims of domestic violence. Altogether, a total of €900 was collected by the employees of MAPFRE Middlesea, which was then donated to the above-mentioned charitable institutions.
“This was but a small gesture of goodwill from our end. We are truly grateful for the work being done by these local institutions and this is our way of expressing our appreciation towards their initiatives”, said Felipe Navarro, CEO.
In the upcoming year, the company will continue to collaborate with a number of NGOs in order to provide assistance in various other projects.
MAPFRE Middlesea p.l.c. (C-5553) is authorised by the Malta Financial Services Authority to carry on both Long Term and General Business under the Insurance Business Act, Cap 403 of the Laws of Malta.
