MAPFRE Malta employees join boys of St Patrick’s Residential Home on boat trip

As part of its CSR Programme MAPFRE Middlesea has once again organised a boat trip for some of the young residents of St Patrick’s.

A group of employees of MAPFRE Middlesea and MAPFRE MSV Life joined a group of 30 boys on a five-hour boat trip. The group were taken to Mellieha Bay to swim and snorkel, after which they shared food prepared earlier by the boys and the carers themselves. The event provided an opportunity for MAPFRE employees to interact with the young boys.

St Patrick’s residential service welcomes adolescents and young boys a home away from home, due to personal or social circumstances. At present, over 35 boys aged between 9 and 20 are under the care of the home. The care team members do their best to create an authentic family spirit, helping the boys achieve life skills. The boys are provided with the necessary financial and psychological support, while being encouraged to become independent at a later stage in life. Besides their studies, the boys are encouraged to participate in extra-curriculum activities.

“It is always a pleasure to spend time with the residents of St Patrick’s and to witness the good job being done by the carers and volunteers of the residential home. These boys deserve to be loved and respected, just as much as anyone else” Ines Silva, Chief Officer HR at MAPFRE Middlesea said.
