MAPFRE Malta volunteers in activity with Centru Tbexbix
MAPFRE Middlesea and MAPFRE MSV Life spent some time at Centru Tbexbix in an Easter event organised by both companies.
As part of the MAPFRE Malta Volunteering Programme, a group of 20 employees from both companies spent time interacting with a group of 80 children and elderly who attend Centru Tbexbix.
Centru Tbexbix is an NGO focusing on community service projects based in Cospicua. It offers free education and social support to children in Cottonera and also helps social excluded elderly with physical difficulties.
Through the H.E.L.P Project (Helping the Elderly and Poor), the service provides assistance with basic needs such as shopping, preparing meals, walking or driving them to clinics and filling in forms. Counselling services are also offered. Children and adolescents are offered academic and psychological support while a number of sports and art activities are organised, allowing the children to improve social and other skills.
The Centre is run by volunteers and programmes are offered free of charge. Donations are received to cover the running costs of the centre.
“We want to reach out to all members of society, even those who are socially excluded or who have some difficulty in coping with basic activities day-day. Such activities are truly rewarding for our employees,” Marketing Manager at MAPFRE Middlesea Ana Zammit Munro said.
