In the past 10 months, there have been 20 traffic fatalities in Malta, with more than a third of the victims being motorcyclists. “We do believe that more awareness in the road is needed and we want to do our part,” CEO & President Felipe Navarro said.
A number of road safety episodes will be featured on TV programme On D Road, hosted by Pierre Borg, a well-known motorcyclist in Malta. Topics will include safety features of the bike, safety gear, maintenance of motorbikes and being safe on the road.
On its social media platforms and through its blog, MAPFRE Middlesea will be sharing a number of safety tips and information about the topic.
This campaign is in line with Fundacion MAPFRE’s strategy to promote road safety. Fundacion MAPFRE has been working for the past years to raise public awareness to prevent all types of traffic accidents and reduce accident and injury rates. Focus is given to vulnerable groups such as pedestrians and riders of two-wheeled vehicles.
In November, Street Smart Campaign will be launched for the third year. This time round, Generation Green will be targeting the largest possible audience, through the use of national television. A series of thirteen episodes, each between 10 to 15 minutes, will be produced and broadcasted on local TV and online. Each episode will tackle a different aspect of transport safety measures such as; safety belts, traffic lights, bicycles, speeding, traffic jams and driving distractions.
MAPFRE Middlesea p.l.c. (C-5553) is authorised by the Malta Financial Services Authority to carry on both Long Term and General Business under the Insurance Business Act, 1998.
