MAPFRE Middlesea recently sponsored the Malta Racing Club Premier Championship. The races were spread over two days – Friday 30th April and Sunday 1 May 2016 with 17 races in total over 2140m in distance.
Two races were for the Premier Category, six for the Silver, six for the Bronze and three for the Cooper Category. Each winning owner was awarded a commemorative trophy.
A polo match was also held on Friday which was won by Team Red composed of Matthew Brincat, Anthony Tabone, Wolfram Kessler and Verena Steiner. A number of pony races were also held during the weekend.
MAPFRE Middlesea CEO Felipe Navarro and club chairman Edwin Borg presented the trophy to some of the winners. “It is a pleasure for us to support local sports enthusiasts and to maintain Maltese traditions,” Mr Navarro said.
This is the second year that MAPFRE Middlesea sponsored this event.
