“Volunteering is one of the best experiences one can have. It is a way of giving back and showing gratitude for all the beautiful things we have in life and of shaping one’s personality. My voluntary work in India has made me appreciate the smaller things in life and I’m really thankful to my colleagues at Middlesea Insurance for supporting me in this experience,” she said upon her return.
Mother Theresa founded the Missionaries of Charity in Kolkata, India in 1950. For over forty years she assisted the poor, sick, orphaned and dying while guiding the Missionaries of Charity’s expansion even in other countries. Mother Theresa’s Charity Home in Agra provides a home for around 300 orphaned or disabled children and children from poor families as well as adults who can no longer take care of themselves. The home is solely reliant on private donations, however, every evening it manages to open its doors and provide a warm plate of food to all the homeless people in the area. The home is currently run by 5 nuns with the help of a number of people who grew up there and stayed on to help, as well as a number of volunteers from around the world who arrive every day.
