Middlesea supports Dr Klown initiative

Middlesea is proud to support the noble cause of Dr Klown. Dr Klown are a group of volunteers, coming from all walks of life who entertain sick children at Malta’s national hospital, Mater Dei, making them forget their pain for a while, through the power of laughter.

Dr Klown is based on an idea which was introduced by Hunter Doherty ‘Patch’ Adams, an American doctor. He was immortalised in the 1998 Hollywood film Patch Adams, starring Robin Williams. Dr Klown volunteers receive specialised training before they start meeting the young patients.

“We believe that it’s important for us to support such worthy initiatives. Dr Klown is one such initiative. Often, a smile can be the best medicine and we’re sure that with their work the Klown doctors are making these children’s ordeal a little more bearable,” said Mr Alfredo Munoz, CEO of Middlesea Insurance.
