The competition had the aim of rewarding safe driving performance and formed part of the launch of MotorMax Insurance, Malta’s very first intelligent insurance which enables premiums to be customised based on the driving performance of drivers.
A total of 33 participants took part in the competition and installed a telematics device on their car. Then their driving performance was monitored for a whole month. They were penalised if they exceeded speed limits or if they used their car excessively during the night. Extra points were also given to participants who helped to increase awareness of the product through the use of social media.
During the presentation of the prizes, Mr Fernando Docampo, Assistant General Manager at Middlesea Insurance, stated, “This competition as well as this product allows Middlesea to strengthen its campaign in favour of road safety. Road safety is a concern which is close to our heart, and simply through increasing awareness and educating young drivers we can reduce the occurrence of injuries and sometimes death resulting from traffic accidents. We, at Middlesea would like to congratulate the winners, and thank all the participants for teaming up with us in testing and promoting such an innovative product.”
