The Malta Basketball Association (MBA) is pleased to announce that it has renewed its sponsorship agreement with MAPFRE MSV Life, covering the senior women’s competitions, for another three years.
Confirmation of the extension of this long-standing partnership represents a boost for women’s basketball as MAPFRE MSV Life will continue to support the Women’s First Division Basketball League and the Women’s First Division Knock-Out until season 2024-25.
The agreement was signed by Paul Sultana, President of the MBA, and Etienne Sciberras, Chief Executive Officer at MAPFRE MSV Life, at a press conference, held on Thursday at the MBA Complex.
The semi-final draw of this season’s Women’s First Division Knock-Out competition was held during the press conference with Starlites FIJO drawn against Luxol while Hibernians will face ARMS Depiro. The KO semi-finals will be played on 11th December with the first game, between Starlites FIJO and Luxol, commencing at 11 a.m. followed by the Hibernians-ARMS Depiro match at 3 p.m.
“MAPFRE MSV Life have been one of our main partners for the past 15 years and the extension of the sponsorship agreement for the Women’s First Division Basketball League and the Women’s First Division Knock-Out reflects the company’s ongoing commitment to contribute to the Maltese society by supporting basketball,” Paul Sultana said.
“We are very pleased and grateful that MAPFRE MSV Life will continue to sponsor the senior women’s competitions as their backing is vital for the MBA not only to financially sustain these competitions but also to support our efforts to keep promoting basketball, especially among girls and women.”
Etienne Sciberras, Chief Executive Officer at MAPFRE MSV Life said: “We are delighted to re-confirm our long-standing support to the Malta Basketball Association through the signing of a new three-year agreement that will take us to the end of the 2024/25 season.

MAPFRE MSV Life’s ongoing support of the MBA women’s competitions complements the company’s corporate social responsibility mission.
